Mount ZweKaBin

Rising above the surrounding rice fields to a height of 700-metres, this limestone peak is one of the region’s most sacred sites. At the grassy fields at its base stand thousands of Buddha statues in neat lines. From here pilgrims make the steep ascent up steps carved into the mountainside until they reach the summit with its small monastery, groups of playful macaques and a staggering panoramic view of nearby plains and the Salween River.
